Laughter Lives Tuesday

So here's my funny...well maybe not so funny...story. As many people know, we brought our 14 month old son, Jordan, home from Vietnam a little over 2 months ago. Until then our 16 month old daughter, Skylar, had been the center of the universe so she was a little perplexed. She actually enjoyed the company the first night, but was very surprised and disappointed to find him in the living room the next morning!

Well one afternoon a couple weeks after we got home, I needed to put away some laundry. I put Jordan and Skylar in Skylar's crib for a minute while I put the clothes away. At this point Jordan cried EVERY TIME I put him down so I was not surprised when he immediately started screaming. It took 2 or 3 minutes to put the laundry away and I kept repeating "You're okay Jordan. I'm coming right back." Skylar just stood in the crib with a huge smile on her face. Then it hit me....Skylar looked way too happy! I walked quickly to the crib to find Jordan on his stomach and Skylar happily standing on top of his back pushing his face into the blankets!! I pulled her off of him and in my meanest motherly voice told her, "Skylar, we do not stand on our brothers!!" Do people really say that sentence?? Well, things have gotten much better...Skylar is really loving her brother now and she doesn't ever try to kill him anymore :)

Wow! New siblings can be vicious!! One of my baby cousins decided to un-potty-train himself for attention when his new brother came! And a friend's 2-year-old gave his newborn baby sister a concussion when she came home! It's a kid thing, I guess! Luckily, toddlers are survivable!!!

So sad, but so funny. You have to love brothers and sisters.
